Each winter, during the NSW July vacation, a Wycliffe team visits Tonga. The program has become known at Wycliffe as Tonga CAFE (Tonga Cultural and Faith Exchange). The program is open to students in Year 10. The team includes students and supervising adults. Adult members are drawn from Wycliffe staff, parents and Alumni with a commitment to the program.
The program was recognized by the Australian Government in 2006 by a National Quality Schooling Award recognizing Outstanding Achievement in School Improvement. During each year's visit to Tonga, students are immersed in Tongan culture, share in school lessons and programs and generally assist the local Tongan families in their ongoing English learning. Wycliffe students each year gain many new perspectives through their cross-cultural experience.
The team visiting Tonga in June/July 2008, will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Tonga CAFE and the sister school relationship between Tauf'a'ahau Pilolevu College and Wycliffe Christian School.
