Principal's Welcome

Welcome to the Wycliffe website. We are progressively developing this website as an important tool in communication with existing members of our parent, student and staff community as well as a means of providing to visitors a window on Wycliffe. Over the next twelve months we hope to unveil our next generation website to provide even more features for communication. We trust that you find your current and future visits to this site helpful in gaining an understanding of what Wycliffe Christian School offers. If you are considering enrolment at Wycliffe, I invite you to make contact with the Registrar, Mrs. Avril Marshall. She and I may then have an opportunity to discuss further the benefits of a Wycliffe education.

We recognize that making a decision about school enrolment is a very significant process. A large part of a child and young person’s formative years are spent in the context of schooling. Therefore it is important to not only consider the potential academic and personal development outcomes for a given student but the life-shaping values which are inculcated through every aspect of daily school life. So whether you are a parent evaluating whether a school is a good fit for your child or a young person reassessing your options for further schooling, we invite you to seriously consider a Wycliffe education. Wycliffe is committed to pursuing excellence for children and young people appropriate to their academic and other abilities.

Wycliffe has an established reputation for serving the needs of Christian families in the Blue Mountains and surrounding areas for more than three decades. It also has a long tradition of offering the benefits of this education to families from the general community. Wycliffe seeks from all families a commitment to support the vision and values of the school so that it can operate in genuine partnership with parents. You can read more about the vision and values of the School on other parts of this website.

A central feature of life at Wycliffe is the pursuit of being in every sense a Christian school. Wycliffe understands that a Christian worldview encompasses all of life and therefore each aspect of the formal school curriculum and the co-curricular program. Through careful nurture from early childhood and the sensitive and progressive exposure to challenging ideas, we aim to equip young people to make a difference in the world. We encourage and seek to equip our young people to be agents of change and hope in a fragmented world. The school’s commitment to encouraging learning founded on God’s Word has a fourfold outworking:

  • Wycliffe seeks to nurture faith from early childhood, through the turbulence of adolescence and on to growing maturity towards young adulthood.
  • Wycliffe aims to sensitively identify and unwrap truth for students giving them firm bases in a relativistic world.
  • Wycliffe encourages discernment in the exploration of ideas and the evaluation of human behaviour, not shying away from confronting tough questions.
  • Wycliffe strives to enable students to develop life-long habits of thoughtful action through its extensive service program and intercultural exchanges.

Undergirding the whole Wycliffe experience is a vital interest in the pastoral care of each student. Many key staff oversee this process whether it be in the challenge of learning in the classroom or real life contexts, or the fun and excitement of sporting, cultural and outdoor education experiences.

We are excited about what Wycliffe offers. We encourage you to visit our school. An appointment can be arranged with the Registrar. You may wish to take advantage of attending one of the regular Principal’s Morning Tea Tours.
